I've wanted a game like this for a long time but it doesn't exist. All of the suggestions are either mostly boring "open world" space trader type games or janky strategy/tactics games. Ideal: Variety of capital ships, with arcadey-ish controls but plenty of depth and sim-lite stuff. I.e. limited "special abilities" and "cooldown spam" type battles.
